The Federal High Court in Abuja has nullified Governor Hope Uzodinma’s emergence as the All Progressives Congress candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District election scheduled for January 16, 2027.
Delivering judgment on Thursday, Justice Obiora Egwuatu ruled that the evidence presented before the court showed that Uzodinma did not win the party’s primary election held in the district on May 18 and monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The court held that former Imo State Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha, secured the highest number of votes in the exercise and was therefore entitled to the party’s ticket.
Justice Egwuatu consequently directed INEC to recognise Okorocha and publish his name as the APC’s legitimate candidate for the senatorial election.
The judge also restrained Uzodinma from parading himself as the party’s candidate for the poll.
