The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expanded its presidential campaign structure ahead of the 2027 general election, releasing a supplementary list of appointees to the campaign council of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The additional appointments bring more political figures, former public office holders, professionals and entertainment personalities into the party’s campaign structure as it prepares for the next presidential election.
The list, released on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, contains appointments across several directorates and mobilisation units responsible for coordinating different aspects of the campaign.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, announced the development, explaining that the supplementary appointments were part of efforts to broaden the composition of the campaign council and strengthen its operational structure.
Among the prominent personalities included in the new appointments are Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo; former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh; former Edo State governorship aspirant, Osagie Ize-Iyamu; and actress Foluke Daramola.
The appointments cover several areas, including transportation, manufacturing, small and medium-sized enterprises, civil society engagement, parliamentary relations, artisan mobilisation and entertainment.
In the Directorate of Air Transport Mobilisation, Keyamo was named director, with Mrs Olubunmi Kuku appointed Deputy Director I and Engr Farouk Ahmed Umar named Deputy Director II.
The directorate is one of the specialised units incorporated into the campaign structure to coordinate engagement and mobilisation within the aviation and air transport sector.
Similarly, the Directorate of Contact and Mobilisation received additional appointments, with former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, named Deputy Director I and Abdullahi Abdulkareem Tsafe appointed Deputy Director II.
The directorate is expected to contribute to the campaign’s engagement with political stakeholders and other groups as the party works to consolidate its support base across the country.
The APC also strengthened its structure for engaging the manufacturing and small-business sectors. Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba was named Deputy Director III of the Directorate of Manufacturing and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Sector Mobilisation.
The inclusion of the sectoral directorate reflects the campaign council’s broad organisational structure, which accommodates different professional and economic interests.
In another appointment, former Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Sanusi Garba Rikiji, was named director of the Directorate of Artisan Mobilisation, while Chukuma Umeoji was appointed Deputy Director I.
The supplementary list also included Augustine Umahi as Co-Director of the Directorate of Civil Society Mobilisation.
In the Directorate of Parliamentary Mobilisation, Senator Bayero Nafada was appointed Deputy Director (Senate), adding another political figure to the campaign’s engagement structure.
The campaign council also drew from the experience of former senior security officials. Former Chief of Army Staff, General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, and former Inspector-General of Police, Mike Okiro, were listed among the members of the security and intelligence component.
Their inclusion brings former senior security officials into the wider campaign structure, although the precise responsibilities assigned to individual members will depend on the council’s operational arrangements.
The entertainment sector was also represented in the supplementary appointments, with Dauda Adamu Kahutu, popularly known as Rarara, and actor Sani Musa Danja featuring on the list.
The entertainment industry has remained an avenue through which political parties engage wider audiences, particularly young people and supporters who follow public figures across television, music and social media platforms.
Other personalities appointed as advisers to the chairman of the campaign council include Ali Sa’ad, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura and Saminu Turaki.
The latest appointments expand the council’s membership while retaining its established leadership structure.
President Tinubu remains chairman of the council, with Vice-President Kashim Shettima serving as First Vice-Chairman and APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, as Second Vice-Chairman.
Former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, retains his position as Director-General, while Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, remains secretary of the council.
The supplementary appointments follow the earlier constitution and inauguration of the presidential campaign council, which brought together political leaders and other stakeholders to coordinate the party’s preparations for the 2027 election.
The council was inaugurated on October 14, 2026, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
With the addition of the new members, the APC is seeking to widen the reach of its campaign machinery by incorporating representatives from different sectors and strengthening its mobilisation network.
The 2027 presidential election is expected to test the ruling party’s ability to maintain its national political support while addressing public concerns over economic conditions, security and governance.
For the APC, the expanded campaign council provides an organisational platform for coordinating political engagement and promoting Tinubu’s re-election bid.
However, the effectiveness of the enlarged structure will ultimately depend on how its various directorates coordinate their activities, engage voters and translate their assignments into grassroots mobilisation ahead of the election.
