The Delta State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Solomon Arenyeka, has called on members of the Global Initiative Support Group for Sheriff 2027 to intensify grassroots mobilisation to secure the re-election of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, President Bola Tinubu and other party candidates in the 2027 general elections.
Arenyeka gave the charge during the inauguration of the support group in Ughelli, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, Friday.
Arenyeka who was represented by the APC Chairman for Delta South Senatorial District, Emmanuel Amgbaduba, expressed confidence in the group’s organisational capacity, noting that its coordinators and canvassers were strategically positioned across the 25 local government areas of the state, with additional support from members in the diaspora.
The APC chairman said the Oborevwori administration’s performance in infrastructure, education and healthcare had provided compelling reasons for the governor to seek another term in office.
He specifically cited the ongoing flyover projects in Warri and Ughelli, alongside developments around Otovwodo Junction, as evidence of the administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure and enhancing economic activities across the state.
Arenyeka also commended the governor for projects in the education and health sectors, noting that the initiatives were aimed at improving the welfare and living conditions of Deltans.
He further praised Oborevwori for signing the 13th-month salary bill into law, describing the measure as a significant boost to workers’ welfare that would entitle civil servants in the state to an additional month’s salary in December.
Beyond the governorship election, Arenyeka urged the group to mobilise support for Tinubu and other APC candidates contesting senatorial, House of Representatives and Delta State House of Assembly seats.
He maintained that the re-election bid of Oborevwori should be pursued alongside that of Tinubu, arguing that support from the Federal Government had contributed to the implementation of development projects in Delta State.
The APC chairman tasked the coordinators and canvassers with taking the party’s message to communities, engaging voters directly and encouraging eligible citizens to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate actively in the electoral process.
He expressed optimism that a well-coordinated mobilisation strategy across the state’s 25 local government areas would position the APC for victory at all levels in 2027.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Global Initiative Support Group for Sheriff 2027, Olorogun Josiah Ntekume, said the inauguration was part of efforts to strengthen the group’s organisational framework and prepare members for the political activities leading to the 2027 elections.
Ntekume welcomed party leaders, supporters and members of the diaspora community to the event, while appreciating Arayenka for sending Amgbaduba to represent him at the ceremony.
He said the group was committed to securing the re-election of Oborevwori and the victory of all APC candidates, including Tinubu, urging the newly inaugurated coordinators and canvassers to remain united and dedicated to the assignment.
In his remarks, the convener of the group, Sir Festus Ahon, disclosed that the initiative was established by his friends across Delta State to mobilise support for Oborevwori’s second-term ambition.
Ahon explained that the group had established a network of coordinators and mobilisers across the local government areas, with a mandate to take the party’s campaign to wards and polling units through door-to-door engagement and direct interaction with voters.
He said the group’s mobilisation strategy would cover the entire electoral structure, from the presidential election to the governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and State Assembly contests.
According to him, members must demonstrate their commitment by reaching out to eligible voters, communicating the party’s programmes and building support at the grassroots.
Ahon also highlighted projects executed by the Oborevwori administration in infrastructure, education and healthcare, drawing attention to the flyovers in Warri, Ughelli and Agbor.
He said the signing of the 13th-month salary bill into law further demonstrated the governor’s commitment to workers’ welfare and improved conditions of service.
The convener expressed confidence that the administration’s achievements would strengthen the governor’s re-election prospects, urging members to intensify their mobilisation efforts across the state.
He reaffirmed the group’s determination to work across all levels of the political structure to secure victory for Tinubu, Oborevwori and other APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
