At least seven persons have been killed and ‘dozens’ of others injured in a massive fire at a Canadian military base in Alberta.
Details are still sketchy but The Blaze reports that the fire broke out during a live fire training involving the Canadian military personnel.
A source said that at least seven fatalities had been recorded while ‘dozens’ had been injured in the inferno which is still blazing, fuelled by a windstorm of 100 kilometres per hour.
The source added that during the training it appeared that gunfire hit a gas facility, thus causing an explosion that triggered the massive fire that proved fatal.
The dead have been evacuated, while the injured have been admitted to hospital.
The base, home to hundreds of military personnel and civilians,is strategic because of its huge holding capacity and expanse.
It once served as a live fire training centre for military personnel from across the world.
