The African Action Congress (AAC) has formally written to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, requesting approval to hold the inauguration of its Presidential Campaign Council at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja, on November 11, 2026, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party also requested the provision of food, drinks and other logistical support for participants at the proposed event, citing the need for equal treatment of political parties and fairness in the nation’s democratic process.
The request was contained in a letter dated October 21, 2026, addressed to President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, and signed by the AAC National Secretary, Oshiokhue Philip Ikpeminoghena.
In the letter titled “Request for Approval to Hold the Inauguration of the AAC Presidential Campaign Council at the Presidential Villa and for Logistical Support,” the party said the proposed ceremony was part of its preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The AAC explained that its request was informed by the principles of multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness and equal treatment of political parties, arguing that all parties should have fair access to public institutions and facilities, irrespective of their political affiliations.
The party further requested that food, drinks and other logistical arrangements be provided for participants, noting that similar support had reportedly been extended to the All Progressives Congress (APC) for a comparable political engagement.
The AAC maintained that granting its request would demonstrate the Presidency’s commitment to fairness and equal access, particularly in the treatment of political parties operating within Nigeria’s democratic system.
