In a letter read during plenary by the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, President Tinubu explained that the proposed budget is intended to support the Emergency Rule Government in Rivers State. The funds will be allocated toward key sectors such as education, agriculture, healthcare, and the provision of free medication, among others.
According to Akpabio, the budget allocates N324 billion for infrastructure development, N166 billion for healthcare, N75.6 billion for education, N31.4 billion for agriculture, and N5 billion for the distribution of free drugs to residents across the state.
The Senate President subsequently referred the proposal to the Senate Committee on Emergency Rule in Rivers State for further review and to report back as soon as possible.
