Wife of Anambra State Governor, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, has dismissed remarks made against her by the All Progressives Congress (APC) deputy governorship candidate, Senator Uche Ekwunife, describing them as “false and mischievous.”

Ekwunife, in a viral video attacking Governor Chukwuma Soludo, alleged that Mrs. Soludo served in the administration of former Governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju, which she claimed was a failed government.

The political rivalry between Soludo and Ekwunife has intensified in recent weeks, with both camps trading accusations. While Soludo has questioned the authenticity of Ekwunife’s PhD, the senator has also cast doubts on the governor’s academic standing.
Responding in a statement issued by her media adviser, Daniel Ezeigwe, Mrs. Soludo said she would not be drawn into “uncouth utterances,” but urged Ekwunife to focus instead on defending the credibility of her controversial PhD.
“At no time was Soludo or his wife involved in the government of the time (Mbadinuju),” the statement read. “It is unfortunate that Senator Ekwunife would resort to name-calling and peddling falsehoods against a woman who is widely respected by Ndi Anambra. Unlike Ekwunife, the governor’s wife will never be drawn to political or personal debasement.”
The statement further clarified that Mrs. Soludo never worked under Mbadinuju’s administration, describing Ekwunife’s claim as “pure deceit aimed at misleading the public.”
The exchange underscores the mounting political tension ahead of the 2025 Anambra governorship election, with both the ruling party and the opposition locked in fierce campaigns.
