The Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty, Prof. Epiphany Azinge, and the people of Asaba Kingdom have declared their full support for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to continue in office till 2031, endorsing him ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was made on Wednesday when the revered monarch led a high-powered delegation of traditional chiefs and community leaders on a courtesy visit to Government House, Asaba.

Prof. Azinge commended Governor Oborevwori for his people-oriented leadership and developmental strides across Asaba and Delta State.
“The love of my people for you is boundless, unshakable and irreversible. In the past two years of your administration, Asaba has witnessed rapid urbanization, improved security, and exponential investment across sectors, making it one of the fastest-growing state capitals in Africa,” the Asagba declared.
The monarch also expressed gratitude to the governor for presenting him with the staff of office in November 2024, saying the honour was not only for him but for the entire Asaba Kingdom. He reaffirmed the support of his people while urging government intervention in key areas such as appointments for Asaba indigenes, the resumption of work at the International Conference Centre, a comprehensive capital city master plan, and improvements in electricity, water supply, schools, roads and healthcare facilities.
In his response, Governor Oborevwori thanked the Asagba and his people for their confidence and loyalty, stressing that traditional rulers remain vital partners in governance.
“It is always a pleasure to receive our revered traditional rulers whose wisdom and counsel continue to guide us. Since your ascension, Your Majesty, you have brought peace, unity and cultural pride to the Asaba Kingdom,” the governor said.
Oborevwori assured that his administration would sustain its focus on the transformation of Asaba, citing road projects, storm drainage works re-awarded to CCECC, the resurfacing of Nnebisi Road with streetlights, and new internal roads under the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency.
The governor also revealed that the federal government had awarded the reconstruction of the Summit Junction–Head Bridge axis of the Benin-Asaba highway to Heartland Construction Company, with the state government providing compensation for those affected by the Second Niger Bridge road project.
Calling for political alignment, he urged the people of Asaba to extend similar goodwill to President Bola Tinubu, noting that cooperation at the federal level would bring more development to Delta State.
“Asaba is the face of our state, and we must continue to make it beautiful and secure. Working together with our traditional rulers and communities, we will deliver more projects and ensure peace and progress in our state,” he assured.
