The Executive, elders, and leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ward 3/7 of Ughelli North Local Government Area have officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), pledging total support for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s recent decision to join the ruling party.
They also passed a vote of confidence on President Bola Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborewori and the Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Area, Barr. Jaro Egbo.
Moving the motion for the vote of confidence on the trio, during a meeting in Ekapkamre, Ughelli North, Senior Special Assistant to governor Oborewori on Project Monitoring, Jonathan Evwierhurhoma cited the governor’s performances in just two years.
He specifically highlighted the governor’s strides in road infrastructure, social protection, and public sector reforms as some of the reasons for the ward’s renewed allegiance. He equally commended the development efforts of President Bola Tinubu at the federal level and that of Jaro Egbo in the Ughelli North.
The motion was seconded by Emmanuel Esamagu, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security Matters, and was unanimously adopted by all members present, signaling a collective endorsement of the governor’s leadership and recent political decisions.
In his remarks, Chairman of Delta State Football Federation (DFA) and immediate past Executive Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Area, Godwin Adode stressed the need for members of the ward to continue to support the governor.
He said, “We are proud of the governor’s achievements, especially his work on infrastructure, his commitment to the welfare of the people, and his bold vision for Delta State. His decision to join the APC is a strategic move, and as loyal followers, we are moving with him. Wherever he goes, we go.”
The event was graced by notable political figures including a member of the Delta State Elders Council, Major Patrick Egone (Rtd.), and former Chairman of Ughelli North LGA, Godwin Adode, among others, further underscoring the significance of the defection.
This wave of support marks a major gain for the APC in Delta State, particularly in Ughelli North, and signals shifting political tides as preparations for future elections gather pace.
