The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has launched a nationwide search for the biological parents of a two-year-old girl rescued in Aba, Abia State.

The child, Chiamaka Favor (not real name for protection) was reportedly trafficked from Abuja to Aba in February 2025.

According to NAPTIP’s official statement posted on Facebook, the little girl was sold for a mere ₦100,000 by a suspect believed to be part of a larger trafficking network.
The arrest was made possible through a coordinated effort between the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abia State and NAPTIP officials, who are now pursuing leads tied to three known trafficking syndicates operating out of Abuja.
“Investigations are ongoing,” NAPTIP stated, while confirming the child is safe and receiving care. The agency is now appealing to the public to help identify and reunite the child with her family.
The case follows a string of similar incidents, including an April rescue mission in which eight children were saved from trafficking rings operating across Aba, Onitsha, and Imo State.
Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information about the child’s family to contact NAPTIP immediately.
