In a bid to foster lasting peace and drive economic growth, the Delta State Government has taken decisive steps to resolve lingering disputes between oil-producing communities and oil companies operating across the state.
The State Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Hon. Peter Uviejitobor, made this known during a mediation meeting held in his office in Asaba, yesterday, bringing together stakeholders from host communities and representatives of oil companies.
Hon. Uviejitobor emphasized that the peaceful coexistence between host communities and oil operators is critical to sustaining Delta’s status as the leading oil-producing state in Nigeria. He stressed that under the M.O.R.E Agenda of the current administration, the government is committed to promoting peace, security, and a business-friendly environment that attracts investments and fosters development.
“The government will not tolerate any disruption to oil production,” he stated firmly. “At the same time, no oil company will be allowed to oppress its host communities. Peace and mutual respect are non-negotiable.”
He assured stakeholders of the government’s dedication to implementing strategic policies and programs in the Oil and Gas sector that ensure fairness, stability, and growth for all parties involved.
Hon. Uviejitobor called on host communities and oil companies to collaborate in unity and harmony, noting that only through cooperation can the state achieve sustainable development and economic prosperity.
