The Ughelli North Local Government Legislative Arm has suspended three councillors for six plenary sittings over allegations of gross misconduct, abuse of office, and breach of oath of office.

Those affected are Hon. Festus Oke Inana (Orogun Ward 9), Hon. Oke Doris Isodje (Agbarho Ward 20), and Hon. Collins Oghenebrorhie Arhiakpore (Agbarha Ward 1). The suspension takes immediate effect following a resolution passed during the legislative sitting held on Thursday, July 21, 2025.

In a suspension letter signed by the Clerk of the House, Mr. Tagbajumi Emmanuel, the councillors are directed to appear before a four-man ad-hoc disciplinary committee set up to investigate the allegations. The committee is chaired by the Majority Leader, Hon. Ese Agbobore, with Hon. Israel Palmar and Hon. Eshanome as members, while Hon. Henry Omonigho serves as secretary. The panel is expected to submit its report within one month.

The suspended councillors have also been ordered to refrain from participating in any legislative activities until the investigation is concluded.
Presiding over the sitting, the Leader of the House, Rt. Hon. Prosper Okeoghene Ajero, reaffirmed the legislature’s commitment to integrity, transparency, and discipline in the discharge of its duties.
The resolution to suspend the councillors was endorsed by ten members of the House, led by Ajero, as part of efforts to safeguard good governance in Ughelli North Local Government Area.
