Tragedy struck Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State on the night of Friday, June 20, 2025, when a suspected Boko Haram suicide bomber detonated an explosive device at a bustling fish market, killing at least 10 people and leaving seven others injured.
According to security sources and eyewitnesses cited by counterinsurgency analyst Zagazola Makama, the attacker blended into the crowd by posing as a civilian before setting off the deadly blast.
“The explosion killed the suicide bomber instantly, along with 10 other civilians, while seven more sustained varying degrees of injuries,” Zagazola reported on his platform, zagazola.org.
Following the incident, Nigerian Army troops and emergency response teams swiftly arrived at the scene, providing first aid and moving the wounded to a nearby medical facility.
In the aftermath, security forces sealed off the area to prevent any possible follow-up attacks, as investigations and search operations continue.
