The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested a 21-year-old suspected female arms trafficker who was allegedly en route to deliver ammunition to terrorists operating in local government areas notorious for violent activities.
Spokesperson for the Command, SP Ramhan Nansel, disclosed this to journalists on Thursday in Lafia, the state capital.
According to Nansel, the suspect, identified as Fatima Salisu, a native of Funtua in Katsina State, was apprehended in the Azuba area of Lafia while transporting a cache of ammunition. She was reportedly heading through Keana and Doma Local Government Areas with the intention of delivering the consignment to criminal elements in Katsina State.

“Acting on credible intelligence, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima J. Mohammed, directed the immediate deployment of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit. The team responded swiftly and effectively, resulting in the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of 400 rounds of 7.62x39mm ammunition and 81 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition,” Nansel said.
The suspect is currently in custody and undergoing interrogation as authorities intensify efforts to dismantle the arms trafficking network and uncover any links to banditry and terrorism.
The Police described the arrest as a major breakthrough in the ongoing battle against the illegal proliferation of firearms and rising criminal activity in the region.
The Command reiterated its commitment to ridding the state of crime and urged the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information.
