Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, pledging that no ethnic nationality in the state will be neglected under his watch.

Oborevwori gave the assurance on Wednesday at Obotebe I in Burutu Local Government Area during the 20th coronation anniversary of the Ebenanaowei of Ogulagha Kingdom and Chairman of Delta Ijaw Traditional Rulers Forum, His Royal Majesty, Capt. King Joseph Timiyan (PhD), Torububou I.

Congratulating the monarch on two decades of “visionary and dignified leadership,” the Governor lauded him for fostering peace, unity, and responsible advocacy for oil-producing communities, which, he said, had strengthened ties between traditional authority and government.
“Ogulagha and other Ijaw communities remain vital to Delta’s prosperity. Under my watch, no ethnic nationality will be left behind. Every group will have a fair share in our development plans,” Oborevwori assured.
He said his government’s development focus extends beyond urban centres to riverine and rural communities that sustain the state’s economy, noting that peace and inclusion have ensured stability in the oil-rich region since he assumed office.
“Governance is not just about building roads in the cities. We must pay attention to the areas that produce the oil. That is why we’ve had no crisis or attacks on installations since this administration began,” he stated.
Highlighting his administration’s record of prudent financial management, Oborevwori noted that Delta “remains one of the few states not owing contractors or taking loans,” describing it as evidence of sound governance.
He thanked King Timiyan for his courage and support during the 2023 elections, describing his visit as both official and personal.
“Your Majesty stood by me when it mattered most, and I will never forget that,” he said.
Oborevwori emphasized continued collaboration with the Federal Government to sustain peace and attract more development, commending the people of Ogulagha for their hospitality and loyalty.
“As you mark this 20th anniversary, may your reign continue to bring unity and progress to the Ijaw nation. Delta State will always stand with you,” he declared.
