Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Wednesday inaugurated a multi-billion naira suite of cutting-edge medical equipment to enhance healthcare delivery across the state.

The equipment, unveiled at the Central Hospital, Warri, includes eight hemodialysis machines, 25 user-friendly 4D ultrasound scanners, and two German-made rugged CT scan machines.

Speaking during the inauguration, Oborewori disclosed that the facilities have been strategically distributed across the state’s three senatorial districts to strengthen diagnostic and treatment services in government-owned health institutions.
He said said the new medical equipment would significantly improve healthcare delivery, particularly in maternal and infant care. “We have eight dialysis machines—three for Central Hospital Warri, two for Delta State University Teaching Hospital, Oghara, and three for Asaba Specialist Hospital, Asaba,” he announced.

He added that the 25 ultrasound machines would be distributed to each of the state’s local government areas. “While the symbolic gesture may be quiet, the impact will resonate across our communities,” he said, emphasizing plans for comprehensive training of health workers for effective usage.
Governor Oborevwori further disclosed the acquisition of theatre and orthopedic equipment for Central Hospital Warri, alongside the installation of one CT scan machine and preparation for the second.
“These investments reflect our unwavering commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and outcomes. As the saying goes, ‘health is wealth,’ and this administration is determined to ensure that both our hospitals and primary health centers are well-equipped to deliver quality, effective, and affordable healthcare to all Deltans,” he affirmed.
In his address, the Delta State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, praised the Governor’s leadership, describing the equipment rollout as a milestone.
“After consulting with major health facilities, it was noted that Asaba Specialist Hospital and the Mother and Child Hospital in Warri already have functioning CT-Scans. In his wisdom, the Governor approved the purchase of two brand-new, rugged German CT scans to serve the remaining districts,” he explained.
He also commended the Governor for the timely implementation of the Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF), noting Delta as one of only three Nigerian states to do so.
Dr. Onojaeme further acknowledged the Governor’s efforts to uphold merit-based admissions into nursing schools and sanitize the nursing profession.
“He has made it clear that admissions into nursing schools must be based on merit alone, without external influence. I encourage our leaders to emulate this standard if we are to truly build a strong and effective healthcare system,” he said.
The inauguration of the equipment was performed by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN.
The event was attended by top government officials, including the State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, and Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor.
