Former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, has passed away at the age of 78.

According to a statement released by his family, Ogbeh was said to have died peacefully on Saturday, August 9, 2025.

A seasoned politician and public servant, Ogbeh served as Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development between 2015 and 2019 under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He had earlier held the position of Minister of Communications in the Second Republic from 1982 to 1983 and was the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from 2001 until January 2005.
The family noted that details of his burial arrangements will be made public in due course, while thanking friends, associates, and well-wishers for their prayers and support. They also appealed for privacy as they mourn their beloved patriarch.
