Former Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Solomon Ehigiator Arase, is reported to have passed on in Abuja.

Early accounts indicate that the retired police chief died at Cedarcrest Hospital in the nation’s capital, though the exact circumstances of his death remain unclear. Official confirmation is still being awaited from his family and the Nigeria Police Force.

Arase, who was Nigeria’s 18th Inspector-General of Police, was appointed in April 2015 by then-President Goodluck Jonathan. After retiring from the force, he went on to serve as Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC) and played prominent roles in different aspects of national service.
As of press time, details about the cause of his death are yet to be made public.
