Senator Dino Melaye, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has openly expressed deep regret over his role in helping bring the All Progressives Congress (APC) to power, calling the decision a grave mistake that has worsened Nigeria’s economic challenges.

Speaking on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme aired Friday evening, the former Kogi West senator launched a scathing critique of the APC-led administration, saying the level of hardship Nigerians are currently enduring is unprecedented.

“I regret bringing APC to power,” Melaye declared. “Through the Lord’s Prayer, I confess my sins. Anyone who has walked with the devil or aligned with an unholy tendency should feel the same shame and regret.”
He described the current situation in the country as catastrophic, stressing that even those with physical or sensory impairments can perceive the extent of Nigeria’s decline.
“It is visible to the blind and audible to the deaf that we are in a precarious situation,” he said. “It has never been this disastrous and terrible.”
Melaye likened his past political alignment with the APC to a period of blindness, adding, “Once I was blind, now I can see.”
While distancing himself from his former political allies, Melaye expressed support for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, noting that Atiku is quietly working to rally competent and patriotic Nigerians to challenge the APC’s continued hold on power ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
“Atiku is rescuing this country by bringing together men of honour and valour to correct the satanic manifestation of the APC,” he added.
