The Delta State Police Command has taken into custody a 21-year-old woman accused of fatally stabbing her live-in partner to death during a quarrel in Warri.

The suspect, simply identified as Bina from Bayelsa State, had reportedly been living with the deceased for the past four years. Their union produced two children, aged three and one.

Police spokesperson, SP Edafe Bright, who confirmed the development on Wednesday, said the incident stemmed from a domestic altercation that tragically escalated.
In her statement to investigators, Bina recounted that the disagreement started after she sought help from a neighbour to load a recharge card because her partner had been ignoring her. According to her, this infuriated the deceased, who warned her never to approach neighbours for assistance and allegedly threatened to shut down the shop he had set up for her.
“The argument got heated, and in the process, I stabbed him with a knife,” she reportedly told detectives.
The man was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to excessive bleeding.
Describing the case as deeply regrettable, SP Edafe urged young people to avoid violence when faced with toxic or abusive relationships. He stressed the importance of walking away from conflicts instead of allowing them to escalate to tragedy.
The police confirmed that the suspect remains in custody and will be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
