The Delta State Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has passed a vote of confidence and formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as the party’s sole presidential and gubernatorial candidates for the 2027 general elections.

The decision was taken on Wednesday, August 27, during the party’s State Executive Committee meeting held at its secretariat in Asaba under the leadership of the State Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie.

In his address, Sobotie urged members to remain united and disciplined in building a stronger APC in the state.
“We must remain steadfast, disciplined, and united in the collective task of building a stronger APC in Delta State under the leadership of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori,” he said. “Only through harmony, loyalty and commitment can we consolidate our strength and emerge victorious in the forthcoming elections.”
He further reminded members that the party’s fortunes in Delta are tied to its internal cohesion.
“Reconciliation, tolerance and inclusion must be the watchwords, particularly at the grassroots level in all 25 local government areas,” he stressed.
The meeting also discussed plans for an empowerment programme scheduled for next month, which Sobotie said would “bring succor and tangible benefits to members of the party and their communities.”
The highlight of the session was the unanimous endorsement of President Tinubu as APC’s sole presidential candidate for 2027.
“The Committee lauds his visionary leadership, bold economic reforms and unwavering commitment to repositioning Nigeria on the path of growth, stability and prosperity under the Renewed Hope Agenda,” the resolution stated.
Similarly, Oborevwori was endorsed as the party’s sole governorship candidate in Delta State.
“His endorsement is predicated on his proven record of service, inclusive leadership style, and capacity to deliver good governance under the M.O.R.E. Agenda,” the Committee declared.
The motion for the resolution was moved by Chief Ubu Jiminyevwe Digbame, the State Assistant Auditor, and seconded by Pastor Norbert Sochukwudinma, Chairman of Aniocha South LGA. It was received with “thunderous ovation,” according to the communiqué.
The meeting ended with a prayer of thanksgiving led by Sir Joshua Kekeje, Chairman of Ughelli South LGA.
The State Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, who signed the statement, said the Delta APC remains committed to “unity, discipline and service,” and will continue to mobilize grassroots support ahead of the 2027 elections.
