Tension broke out at Ozolua Model Primary School in Iguobazuwa East Ward, Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State, after a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) agent was reportedly attacked by angry voters.
Eyewitnesses alleged that the yet-to-be-identified agent had withheld some Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), prompting the assault.
The situation almost degenerated into chaos before police officers intervened, rescuing the agent from further harm.
Meanwhile, voter turnout in Iguobazuwa was reported to be high, with electoral materials arriving at several polling units as early as 7 a.m.
In a separate development, seminarians abducted in Edo State have sent out a distress appeal from captivity.
