In a landmark development for healthcare delivery in Delta State, the Asaba Specialist Hospital has successfully conducted its first dialysis session, signaling a new era in advanced medical care at the facility.
The milestone was confirmed by the hospital’s Chief Medical Director, Dr. Peace Ighosewe, who described the breakthrough as a testament to the hospital’s growing capacity as a tertiary healthcare institution.
According to Dr. Ighosewe, the achievement was made possible through the robust support of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda, which facilitated the provision of state-of-the-art dialysis machines and critical care infrastructure. She noted that the hospital is now equipped to offer a wide range of renal replacement therapies, including SLED (Sustained Low Efficiency Dialysis) and Hemodiafiltration, for both standard and ICU patients.
“This is a major step forward in our commitment to providing world-class healthcare to the people of Delta State,” Dr. Ighosewe stated. “We are immensely grateful to His Excellency, Governor Oborevwori, whose vision and investment in the healthcare sector have made this possible.”
She also commended the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, as well as the dedicated medical and technical teams at the hospital, for their roles in ensuring the successful launch of the dialysis program.
