The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the November 8, 2025, Anambra election, Chief Jude Ezenwafor, was shot by unidentified gunmen in Abuja on Friday night.
According to reports, the attack occurred near Wuse 2 as Ezenwafor was returning home from an engagement. He sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital, where doctors are preparing to perform surgery to extract bullets from his body.

Ezenwafor, a real estate developer based in Abuja, was recently nominated unopposed as the PDP flagbearer. Two others who were with him during the attack also sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment.

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and the assailants have not yet been identified. Police investigations are underway.
When contacted by journalists, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, said she had not been briefed on the incident.
Party sources say the development could disrupt the PDP’s campaign activities, depending on the extent of Ezenwafor’s injuries and his recovery timeline.
