The Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Area, Chief Jaro Omovudu Egbo, has announced a ₦5 million bounty for credible information that could lead to the recovery of missing children in Agbarho and the arrest of their abductors.

Egbo made the declaration following last Wednesday’s mob lynching of a woman accused of child abduction in the community. The victim, identified as Mrs. Afornughe, was killed after being caught with a boy allegedly concealed in a sack.

While the incident has sparked outrage, with some residents insisting she was wrongly accused, the chairman stressed that his administration is determined to curb the disturbing trend of child disappearances in the area.
“The protection of our children remains a top priority,” Egbo said, urging residents, traditional rulers, and security agencies to provide useful intelligence. He assured that all information would be treated with strict confidentiality.
Meanwhile, the Delta State Police Command has condemned the killing and confirmed that detectives are on the trail of those behind the jungle justice. Police spokesperson SP Bright Edafe warned that no individual has the right to take laws into their hands and promised that those responsible would be prosecuted.
